A wooden pavilion shelters a plush seating area in this backyard retreat, complete with a mounted TV for game nights. An outdoor kitchen and grill station make hosting easy, and a modern fire pit draws everyone together once the sun goes down.
Build the Layout Around the Fire Pit
Arranging the wicker sectional sofa around a modern fire pit table gives the space a natural gathering point once the sun sets, turning a simple patio into an actual destination.
Keep the Cook Part of the Conversation
Positioning the grill and outdoor bar stools near the main seating area means whoever’s cooking doesn’t get cut off from the group — a layout choice that matters more than the grill itself.
Layer Lighting for Evening Use
Wall sconces, lanterns, and patio string lights each cover a different zone, so the space stays usable and inviting well after dark rather than relying on one overhead fixture.
Design Tips
- Choose durable, weather-resistant furniture and materials for year-round use
- Incorporate layered lighting, like recessed fixtures and lanterns, to set the mood
- Position the grill and seating area so the chef can stay part of the conversation
- Add soft textiles and pillows in complementary colors to enhance comfort and style
